JC's Revenge
Who are you? Mike) I am Mike, from the bouncing machine that is JC’s
Revenge. The elusive frontman… Tim) I R ‘Dunston’.Drummist for J.C.R. Sam) A crack commando unit, sent to prison by a military
court for a crime we didn't commit. Rich)Local Super Group JC's Revenge
How long have you been together? Tim) I’ve been in since 2004 I think.
Mike) I think as JCR for possibly 4 years maybe?? Rich) Forever Sam) 3 years ish....
How did you get together? Mike) Known each other since school, except for Tim the
drummer who we found in a drinking den (i.e. dive) somewhere in
Gloucester… Rich) Internet Dating Tim) I saw an advert in Martian Records for a drummerless
band. I phoned Mike, next thing I knew was that I was already in too
deep to get out... Sam) Through school and adverts.
Describe
your music for someone that’s never heard you before? Mike) Happy, fast, rockin’! With a slow breakdown interlude
and catchy solo usually. Most used chords: D & G.;-) Tim) Some Weezer, some
Charlatans, some Jimmy eat world. And
unintentionally, some Foo
Fighters. Sam) Powerpop, whatever that is. Weezer, Jimmy Eat
World, Fountains of Wayne, Teenage Fanclub type stuff. Rich) Like four retards picking up an instrument for the
first time.
How was
2007 for you? Sam) Busy for the first half (lots of shows) not so busy for
the second half (because our shows kept on being cancelled). Oh and
me and Mike launched a side project each. (Arcade Perfect and By Fidelity
and Fortitude if anyone is interested).
Mike) Fairly quiet on the JC’s front, I think something did
occur around September time of note… Oh yeah, to the surprise of a
nation I got married to my sweetheart!! Rich) Mike got married!! Tim) Wet when it should have been dry and dry when it
should have been wet.
And what
plans do you have for 2008? Rich) Play decent London gigs?
Mike) Yes, in contrast to Money Morgan I think we should avoid
London like the plague, and spread the noise around the vicinity
instead, perhaps towards my house. Try and up the number of shows,
but also get involved in running the live sound more, cos so many
fluff it (set the vocal first, then bring the instruments up around
it…obvious?) Sam) Lots of shows I hope. Be nice to get round the country a
bit more.
Tim) Tidy up the garden a bit… Oh, that’s not really
what you meant was it…?
What’s
your live show like? Mike) See q. 6 part b. Always fast, sometimes jumpin’,
never dull… Sam) People dance....which is nice.
Tim) Don’t know as I’m always at the back of the
stage and can’t really see anything. Rich) A cross between Pink Floyd and Wizard.
What’s
the best gig you’ve played so far? Tim) For the overall fun and novelty factor, The Alma
in Crystal Palace – “…STEP ON IT!”
Mike) Southampton Uni… gotta love those student girls, eh? Oh,
note to self, see answer to Q. 5. Rich) Frog - Cheltenham…. People there and dancing.
Sam) The show in Crystal Palace and the one at the Frog that
Rich mentioned.
And your
worst? Rich) The Study - Cheltenham… Cut off mid set by psycho
landlady.
Mike) The Study, Cheltenham. Woof! Sam) The Study, Cheltenham.
Tim) Loughborough
University. Great venue, bobbins sound and one vital member missing.
What
else should the world know about you? Mike) I
can be too sarcastic for my own good. Frequently. Tim) I
have played naked once or twice in the past. Not recently though. I
may still revive this rather un-necessary (and actually potentially
dangerous) fashion statement though. Rich) Our drummer is a herm. Sam) So is our bassist.
