This site is designed to promote gigs in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Stroud and the rest of Gloucestershire and generate interest in what's going on and who is playing, and to give YOU an idea about what to expect from their shows. If you are a band or venue and have any gigs in Gloucestershire coming up, NamScene would love to hear from you. We'll list your gig and include a short interview with your band. 7th May - Summer Events at the Bacon Theatre

A range of events are taking place at the Bacon Theatre this summer, ranging from open air concerts, to film screenings to outdoor plays. Click here for full story

 

6th May - Fairview Convention Updated

The Fairview Convention is an outdoor all day event taking place at the Kemble in Cheltenham on May 10th starting around 1pm. Bands include the Lighter Thieves, 4FT Fingers, Dale Campbell, JC's Revenge and Sevenpound Foot.  For more information, please click here.

 

28th April - All that Jazz

21st April - Bueller is Back and this time there's 3 times the fun!!!!!

After last years legendary event, "Ferris Bullers Day Off, "12 hours of live music, DJ's and undoubtedly the best name for any party ever, is back! This year however, there are three events falling on each of the bank holiday weekends this summer. Click here for more information. 

 

20th April - Eartha Kitt adds extra night in Cheltenham

Legendary Diva Eartha Kitt (and original Catwoman!!!!!!) has added an extra night at Pitville Pumprooms in Cheltenham. See the gig guide for more details.

 

15th April - Cheltenham Music Festival

In June 2008, the Cheltenham Music Festival welcomes Meurig Bowen as its new Director. Meurig continues the work of his distinguished predecessors, Sir John Manduell, Michael Berkeley and Martyn Brabbins, with a richly-layered programme of symphonic, choral, vocal and chamber repertoire.

 

6th April - Cinderford Soundspace

A new music rehearsal and recording facility which has just been completed by Forest of Dean Music Makers in a joint project with Heywood School, Cinderford. Click here for more information.

 

29th Mar - Exposure Music Awards in Cheltenham

25th Feb - 2000 Tree's Launch Night

2000 Tree's Festival are hosting a free launch party at the Frog and Fiddle in Cheltenham on Saturday, March 1st which will include 5 live acts, cheap tickets, competitions and general larking about. It also gives locals the chance to tell the organisers what they want to see and hear at 2000 trees this year and in years to come.

The five live acts performing at the launch party will also be performing at the festival on July 11th and 12th. Click here for more information.

 

18th Feb - Data.Select.Cheltenham

Fresh off their tour with I Was A Cub Scout and Rolo Tomassi, Data.Select.Party hit Cheltenham this Wednesday night at Subtone. Entry £3.

Subtone is hosting a new live music night on Wednesday nights. Featuring mostly acoustic acts it will sometime include full band shows. Entry is £2, drinks are cheap and it all starts at 9pm.

Kiss My Face Music are hosting a new night at Moda in Cheltenham on Fridays.  Featuring the best in indie, rock, britpop, nu rave, electro, alternative, emo, ska and punk, entrance before 10pm is free, £3 before 11pm and £5 thereafter. 6th November - Guildhall FM

On Friday 16th and Saturday 17th November, (Gloucester) Guildhall Radio will be broadcasting on 106.8 FM in a project which explores culture, the things they do to make a difference, writers, musicians, the history of the Guildhall, what goes on there, who works there, art / film/ the sound of the building. Hear the sounds of Gloucester Carnival, selling the Big Issue, the Wired bands benefit, live cabaret, the past, present, future and Do Kerbs Trouble You? a disabled person’s view of the town . 17th October - Devil Sold His Soul Pull UK Tour

Due to their singer contracting laryngitis DSHS have had to cancel the remainder of their tour and unfortunately that means the 2 Pigs tomorrow night. However, BOSSK, By Vengeance I Remain and the Computers will still be playing, so get yourselves down there.

 

10th October - Watchers of the....well, urm, Rugby

As it seems England might finally be good at something again, the start time of G2 Definitive Genesis gig at the Gloucester Guildhall this Saturday 13th October is being moved back to approx 9.30pm to allow fans to watch England play France. In addition, the Guildhall will be showing the game on giant screens beforehand, starting at 8pm.

 

10th October - PGC Practice and Rehearsal Rooms

PGC Studios is a new practice and rehearsal facility recently opened in Cheltenham. To find out more about it click here.

 

9th October - Cheltenham Rocks

A week of workshops, seminars and lectures for all young, serious musicians interested in rock, pop, funk, jazz and hip hop will be held in Cheltenham. Click here to read more.

 

8th October - Nightowl Gigs Off for Now

"Unfortunately, due to non completion of remedial works to Our 3 Phase Electrics we have regrettably had to Cancel Tonights Gig. We have also cancelled RATTLESNAKE REMEDY October 24 as a precaution. We are anticipating being back online within the next few weeks but definitely by the Start of November when we have some very special Gigs lined up."

13th September - Bouncing Back at the Guildhall

Bounce, Gloucester's monthly indie night at the Guildhall is back, and now includes an under 18s early doors event. Click here for more information.

 

12th September - Hydraid

Hydraid is charity set up to help the six counties affected by this summers flooding. The organisation will be holding a 12 hour music spectacular at GL1 in Gloucester on the 29th September as well as raising funds through releasing a CD. More information can be found at the link below.

The Vaults in Cirencester and the Two Pigs and Frog and Fiddle in Cheltenham will be open for business this weekend.

 

26th July - Please Check Venues

Hope everyone is coping ok with the lack of water, flooding and the rest of it. Just a quick note to say please check with venues before attending any gigs as many places are currently shut due to the lack of running water. If anyone from any venues are reading this and would like to tell us if they are open or closed they can contact us either through namscene@hotmail.com or though our forum at:-

16th July - Gigs Off at the Nightowl

All forthcoming gigs at the Nightowl have been cancelled due to "technical reasons beyond control" and "poor attendances", the venue states. Club nights will carry on as normal, while the venue is still available for hire. For more see:-
